Dating back hundreds of years, spectacles always utilised glass as the material of choice for lenses. However, with advancements in technology over recent times, plastic has become the mainstay for lens production all over the world.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t any need for real glass lenses in the 21st century.
Often preferred by those of an older, maybe more traditional generation, glass lenses offer the clearest possible clarity with a minimum of distortion. As well as being naturally highly scratch resistant, glass lenses are also often thinner than their plastic equivalent and therefore more desirable by some wearers.
Our range of glass lenses can be viewed here.
